THE ZIMBABWE Artisanal and Small Scale Women Miners Association (ZASWMA) is holding an Occupational Health and Safety Awareness Campaign at Marondera Shops in Mazowe, Mashonaland Central.
The campaign is running under the theme Women in Mining Leading Safer and Healthier Workplaces and is focused on promoting safer mining practices, health awareness and economic empowerment for women in artisanal and small-scale mining.
The initiative is anchored on four pillars, which are Work Safe, Live Healthy, Stronger Women and Brighter Communities.
According to the organisers, the event features occupational health and safety awareness training, breast cancer screening and health education, financial literacy and account opening support, as well as ZASWMA membership registration.
The technical sessions cover chemical, physical and environmental safety awareness, ESG, responsible sourcing and gold quality, and gender, psychosocial safety and ending violence against women and girls.
The campaign is being implemented in partnership with Baines Occupational Health and Safety and NMB Bank, with support from the NEBOSH Grant, as part of ZASWMA’s broader push for safer miners, healthy workers and stronger communities.
