The Mine Ventilation Society of Zimbabwe (MVSZ) is set to host its flagship ZIM VENTILATION CONFERENCE 2026 from 29 to 30 October 2026 at the Holiday Inn in Bulawayo, with preparations now in the final countdown.
The two-day conference, a key event on the Zimbabwe mining calendar, will bring together ventilation engineers, mine managers, safety professionals, equipment suppliers and policymakers to tackle ventilation challenges in the country’s underground and open-pit operations.
This year’s gathering comes as the mining industry places renewed focus on occupational health, heat stress management, dust control, and energy-efficient ventilation systems, particularly in gold, platinum, chrome and coal mines where deepening shafts are raising ventilation demands.
Dr Tonderai Chikande, the the Mine Ventilation Society president, is expected to lead proceedings and deliver the president’s address on the state of mine ventilation in Zimbabwe and the Society’s roadmap for professionalising the field.
The conference will feature technical presentations, exhibition of ventilation equipment and fans, and networking sessions for practitioners across the mining value chain.
The event is now few weeks away, with the MVSZ crest – featuring ventilation fans, safety symbols and the Zimbabwe map – underscoring its national mandate.
The Mine Ventilation Society of Zimbabwe is the professional body representing ventilation practitioners in the mining sector, focused on training, standards, research and the promotion of safe, breathable underground environments.
