KOKETSO Investment, a contract mining and civil construction group, said it will use the Association of Mine Managers of Zimbabwe (AMMZ) conference in Nyanga to present its growth from a drilling and blasting contractor and to seek new partnerships.
The AMMZ’s 54th annual general meeting and conference began on November 1 and runs until November 4 at Troutbeck Resort under the theme “From Plan to Performance”. Deputy Minister of Mines Fred Moyo is guest of honour. The event brings together mine managers, engineers, suppliers and policymakers.
Koketso said its portfolio includes T&A Drilling and Blasting, MGS Civils and a solar panel cleaning company.
“We started with one rig machine and a big dream,” Koketso executive Alice Mukata said. She said the company wants to meet mine managers, listen to their needs and build partnerships.
Mukata said Koketso has invested in a fleet that includes underground drilling rigs, exploration rigs, compressors, excavators, dozers, graders, front-end loaders and tippers. This lets it handle contract mining, stripping, load and haul, road and dam construction and general civil works, she said.
She said the company has worked at the Chiadzwa diamond fields, the chrome and platinum belts at Mhondoro, gold mines in Bindura, Chegutu and Guruve, and quarries in Nyabira, Harare, Chivhu and Mutoko. The company said it delivered those projects on time and to high safety standards.
Mukata said Koketso’s approach rests on safety, quality and local empowerment. At the conference it will show its contract mining and civil construction work, its safety culture and its training and employment of Zimbabweans in mining communities.
“Zimbabwe can build its own mines, with its own people, with its own machines,” she said.
