The Ministry of Mines and Mining Development has temporarily suspended walk-in services at the Deputy Cadastre Registrar’s Office to accelerate the rollout of its new digital system.
In a public notice, Mines and Mining Development Secretary Dr Thomas Utete Wushe said from Monday the office will not be attending to walk-in visitors until further notice.
“The Ministry of Mines and Mining Development advises the public, mining title holders, applicants, prospectors, legal practitioners and all stakeholders that, with effect from Monday 26 October 2026, the Deputy Cadastre Registrar’s Office will not attend to walk-in visitors until further notice,” reads part of the notice.
According to the Ministry, the temporary measure will enable staff to accelerate the implementation of the digital Mining Title Management System.
The system is expected to improve the speed, transparency, accuracy and security of mining title administration.
The public has been notified that lodgement of documents, including applications and supporting documents, may now be submitted through respective Provincial Mining Director’s offices.
The Ministry also warned the public against fraud, stating that it has not appointed any agents and does not charge any fee to facilitate access to the Office.
On resumption of services, the Ministry said the public will be advised through a further public notice.
“The Ministry regrets any inconvenience caused and appreciates the cooperation of all stakeholders as it modernises mining title administration,” the statement added.
