  • How Mine mill now running at about 55,000 tonnes a month.
  • Full capacity reached well ahead of end-December target.
  • Capacity is up about 36% from 40,500 tonnes a month.
  • Redwing Mine restart on track for first gold by January 2027.

NAMIB Minerals said its expanded milling plant at How Mine in Zimbabwe is now running at its full rate of about 55,000 tonnes a month, well ahead of the end-December target.

The Nasdaq-listed gold producer said on October 26 that the plant lifts How Mine’s monthly processing capacity by about 36% from roughly 40,500 tonnes.

When it reported first-half results on October 1, Namib said commissioning was expected in mid-October, followed by a ramp-up of about six to eight weeks. It said then that the plant should reach its full rate by the end of December. The company announced earlier this month that commissioning was complete.

“Reaching full capacity this quickly is a credit to the How Mine team, who delivered the expansion safely and ahead of plan,” Chief Executive Tulani Sikwila said.

At current ore grades, the company has said the expanded plant should support an annualised production rate of more than 30,000 ounces.

Namib lowered its 2026 production guidance this month to between 26,500 and 27,000 ounces, from 28,000 to 31,500 ounces. The company said the change reflected the timing of the milling expansion and the ramp-up period.

It expects to give formal 2027 production and cost guidance in the first quarter of next year, including the contribution from its Redwing Mine.

The restart of Redwing, one of two assets Namib aims to bring back into production in Zimbabwe, remains on schedule for first gold by January 2027, the company said.

How Mine is an underground gold mine and is currently Namib’s only operating asset.

Gold accounted for about $3.2 billion of Zimbabwe’s $5.73 billion in mineral export earnings in the first half of 2026, Deputy Minister of Mines Caleb Makwiranzou said in September.
