The Association of Mine Surveyors of Zimbabwe (AMSZ) will host its 41st Annual General Meeting and Conference on 27–28 August 2026 at the Great Zimbabwe Hotel, under the theme “From Survey to Service and Strategic Partnerships for National Mining Growth”.

The Association says this year’s gathering comes at a “decisive and most consequential moment” for both the profession and the mining industry, as government policy reforms and investor requirements put reliable spatial data at the centre of mining governance.

Speaking ahead of the event, AMSZ President Stewart Gumbi said the role of the mine surveyor has expanded significantly over the past two years from traditional measurement and mapping to a critical pillar in data generation, mineral accountability, production verification, regulatory compliance, ESG monitoring and strategic decision-making.

“Together, we have repositioned the mine surveyor from a downstream technician into a strategic leader — a custodian of spatial data, an independent production auditor, and an indispensable partner in national mineral accountability,” Gumbi said.

AMSZ noted that cadastre modernisation, national mineral accountability requirements, beneficiation priorities, small-scale mining regularisation, and disaster risk management frameworks now all depend on accurate mine surveying data.

“This is not merely an annual gathering. It is a strategic platform where members and stakeholders must come together to safeguard the gains achieved, strengthen the profession’s relevance, and define the next phase of AMSZ’s contribution to national development,” the Association said.

AMSZ is urging all members, employers and partners to register early.

“Every delegate and every voice matters. The decisions made at this gathering will shape the Association, the profession, and the role of mine surveyors in Zimbabwe’s evolving mining landscape,” it said.
