The Institute for Law, Development and Democracy Trust (ILDD) has opened applications for its Professional Certificate in Mining and Mineral Resources Law, a new programme aimed at strengthening legal expertise in Zimbabwe’s extractives industry.
The course, accredited by the Law Society of Zimbabwe for 12 CPD points, will commence on 15 August 2026 at the ILDD campus in Gweru and Harare.
Classes are scheduled for Saturdays and mid-week virtual sessions to accommodate working professionals.
ILDD said the certificate was designed to address the growing need for specialised legal capacity as mining continues to drive economic growth in Zimbabwe.
The programme will combine lectures, seminars, simulations, group presentations, and practical projects.
“Responsible mining requires responsible law,” ILDD said in a statement. “This programme is intended to equip legal practitioners and industry leaders with the tools to uphold the rule of law while driving sustainable development in the sector.”
The six-month certificate will cover eight key modules, including Mining Title in Zimbabwe, Mining Compliance and Regulatory Audits, Litigation and Alternative Dispute Resolution, Impact Assessments and ESG, Import and Export Regulations, Land Acquisition and Land Use in Mining, Mining Tax Law, and Digital Mining Law and Technology.
ILDD said the programme is open to mine managers and administrators, legal practitioners and legal officers, legal executives in mining companies, state attorneys, PNCs, legal counsels, and compliance and governance officers.
ILDD, a law and governance institute, says the new certificate adds to its mandate of promoting professional expertise and accountable governance in key economic sectors.
