ENG. GLORIA Gawe Bususu has been appointed chairperson of the Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce’s Energy, Environment & Sustainability Sub-Committee for the 2026/27 term.

ZNCC Chief Executive Christopher Mugaga confirmed the appointment in a letter to Bususu, saying the chamber valued her contribution and hoped she would be able to serve.

Bususu is managing director and co-founder of Gloer Investments, a Zimbabwean company that provides solar, electrical infrastructure and water solutions. She previously worked for ZETDC for about a decade as a research and specifications engineer, according to a published profile.

She also served as ZNCC Harare Chapter vice chairperson for the 2025/26 term. ZNCC identified her as the Harare branch vice chair in February when she joined the chamber’s delegation to submit 2026 monetary policy recommendations to the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe.

“I am grateful to the Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC) for the confidence placed in me and look forward to working with fellow committee members, industry leaders and stakeholders to advance sustainable energy, environmental stewardship, and policies that strengthen Zimbabwe’s business environment,” Bususu said.

The committee’s mandate includes promoting private-sector contributions to the Sustainable Development Goals, encouraging energy efficiency and lobbying for energy tariffs that support industry and enterprise development.

It will also advocate for a business-friendly legislative environment for independent power producers and public-private partnerships, while pushing for better access to electricity and monitoring fuel prices.

Bususu said she wanted industry players to contribute ideas on energy security, independent power production, energy efficiency, environmental sustainability and policies affecting investment in the sector.

“As I take on this responsibility, I welcome ideas, challenges and practical recommendations around: Sustainable energy and energy security; Independent Power Production (IPP); Energy efficiency; Environmental sustainability; Policies affecting businesses and investment in the energy sector,” she said.

The focus comes as Zimbabwe continues to expand renewable energy and private power projects. The government’s National Development Strategy 2 says more than 170 independent power producers were registered with the Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority by 2025, although only 48 were operational.

Gloer Investments, which Bususu co-founded, operates in renewable energy and water services and has expanded into electrical infrastructure projects. The company says it supplies and installs solar systems and undertakes electrical power and borehole projects.

Bususu said she would work with professionals and industry players who want to contribute to the committee’s work.

“I look forward to serving and contributing to an impactful 2026/27 term,” she said.
