  • AMMZ and Zimbabwe School of Mines launch monthly forum.
  • First session to focus on Zimbabwe’s Mining Cadastre System.
  • Government, industry leaders and technical experts to join the dialogue.
  • Mine managers expected to prepare for compliance and operational changes.

THE ASSOCIATION of Mine Managers Zimbabwe, in partnership with the Zimbabwe School of Mines, will launch a new monthly forum next week with a session on Zimbabwe’s Mining Cadastre System.

The inaugural Mine Managers Bench will be held online on Wednesday, Aug. 26, from 10:10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. CAT, with registration required, according to the organisers.

Sell equipment, safety gear, chemicals or parts to mines? List your company for free and get seen by mining buyers across Zimbabwe.

The platform is designed as “a monthly dialogue platform for mine-management leadership across Zimbabwe,” the organisers said.

Its first session, titled “Zimbabwe Mining Cadastre: What Mine Managers Need to Know,” will draw government authorities, technical specialists and industry leaders to discuss the system and its practical implications.

The session will cover the purpose and current status of the cadastre, as well as what mine managers need to do to prepare for the changes.

The Mines Ministry said in June 2025 that it was finalising the migration to the Computerised Mining Cadastre Information Management System. The system is intended to provide a digital framework for managing mining titles and related information.

The ministry also required existing mining title holders, applicants for new titles and those with pending applications to submit coordinates in a specified digital format as part of the migration process.

For mine managers, the changes could affect how mining rights are checked, recorded and managed, with implications for compliance, planning and operational decisions.

Larnston Gowera, managing director of Vision AI Tech, will host and moderate the session.

The programme includes a session on “Digital governance and why the cadastre matters to mine managers,” with Gowera expected to set the context for the discussion.

Gowera has a background in mining engineering and technology and has previously spoken about the use of artificial intelligence and robotics in mining. He was involved in a 2023 programme at the Zimbabwe School of Mines that examined the use of AI and robotics in the industry. In 2026, he lectured the Ministry of Mines’ directorate on establishing governance frameworks for technology and AI. Gowera is also a Council member of AMMZ.

The Mining Cadastre portal provides an electronic platform for stakeholders in Zimbabwe’s mining sector.

The government has been working on the computerised cadastre as part of wider efforts to modernise the administration of mining rights. Treasury documents have identified completion of the system as a government priority.

The Mine Managers Bench will provide a regular forum for mine-management leaders to discuss such changes with officials and technical specialists.

AMMZ said the initiative forms part of its commitment to continuous professional development for mine managers.
