Emerging technologies such as automation, artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things are changing how mining operations are designed and managed, Mukamura said.<\/p>\n
While these tools offer significant gains in safety and productivity, she cautioned that successful adoption depends on workforce readiness, cybersecurity and effective system integration.<\/p>\n

Mukamura said the industry must do more to retain women engineers by fostering inclusive workplace cultures and structured support systems.<\/p>\n

\u201cVisibility matters,\u201d she added. \u201cWhen women see others succeeding, it changes what they believe is possible.\u201d<\/p>\n
To young women considering careers in mechanical engineering or STEM fields, Mukamura\u2019s advice is direct: pursue your passion, seek mentorship and advocate for your ideas.<\/p>\n
\u201cBelieve in yourself,\u201d she said. \u201cChallenges are part of growth, and every obstacle teaches valuable lessons.\u201d<\/p>\n
She said her own motivation comes from problem-solving, technological advancement and the desire to inspire others, while maintaining balance through careful time management in a demanding profession.<\/p>\n
