Ministry of Mines To Launch 24-Hour Toll Free Line From August 1

The Ministry of Mines and Mining Development will roll out a toll-free telephone line that will operate 24 hours a day starting 01 August 2026, Permanent Secretary Dr Thomas Utete Wushe has announced.

The new service is aimed at improving service delivery, safety, and accountability in the mining sector.

Dr Utete Wushe said the line will give miners, stakeholders and members of the public direct access to the Ministry for enquiries, reporting incidents, and requesting assistance at any time.

“Pamusoro paizvozvo tichaisa toll free line which will be operating for 24hrs from 01 August 2026. We here to serve. Wese anoda kuchera zviripamutemo zviri safe ngaatore helmet switch on light basa mberi tizvipunditse nekuvaka nyika yedu for generations.”

The Permanent Secretary urged miners to prioritise safety and legal operations.

He called on all those in the sector to “chera zviripamutemo zviri safe” and to work together to “tizvipunditse nekuvaka nyika yedu for generations.”

“Onai chisungo chedu chinotevera. We desire to be the best we can be for the mining community and the people of Zimbabwe parizvino nenguva yamangwana,” Dr Utete Wushe said.

The Ministry said further details on the toll-free number and operating procedures will be communicated ahead of the August 1 launch.
